“Hunted”

there was ecstasy that night
beneath the moon
there was bliss
hearts swelled beyond their measure
breath rushed, ragged

there was ecstasy that night
hearing the howls of the hunter
the cries of the prey
trapped in steely jaws
until the very last

there was ecstasy that night
for one
licking lips painted crimson
tasting copper life
the other knew only horror

Written for this week’s challenge at Trifecta, which gives us ‘ecstasy’ as an inspiration for our writing.
