“Puddle Jumper”

Escher - The Mag

Some look at puddles and see reflections of our world
Merely images of what they already know
and believe
never expecting more than that
never wanting to imagine there could be

I look in puddles and see entirely new universes
calling to me
beckoning my curious soul to jump in
and be transported

I’ve never been one to avoid the puddles
like so many do
stepping around them as if to touch them might
soil their essence
and make them less of what they are

I willingly leap feet-first into those shimmering pools
heedless of the danger
anticipating only the wonder of what could be.

Inspired by the image offered to us this week over at The Mag. Go and read the other wonderful pieces offered up by other writers and poets!

  1. This is my favorite part:
“stepping around them as if to touch them might
    soil their essence
and make them less of what they are”
