“Flower Dance”

standing beneath the verdant willow
vibrant crimson thistle, opalescent blooms
of brightly hued tulips dot the landscape before me
onyx stones wrapped in ivy surrounding the land

music spawns, a lyric contralto
drawing me to dance, every sinew stretching
releasing me from numbness
I explore the lore of dreaming

Written in response to Wednesday Wake-up Call and Midweek Melting.

  1. I simply fell into your words! Such a depth to the piece despite its length. A wonderful play with the quote at NWCU…one of those “I wish I had written this” moments!

  2. What a gorgeous giving-in to the call of dance. I especially love the ending:

    “releasing me from numbness
I explore the lore of dreaming”

  3. I’ve left you a couple of comments, but I think they’re in your spam folder. I’m trying one more time. 🙂

  4. You’ve drawn us into such a vivid scene, Tania!
I really enjoy the last three:

“drawing me to dance, every sinew stretching
    releasing me from numbness
I explore the lore of dreaming”

Especially “explore the lore,” fun to play like that!

    Great poem!
